BLURRING THE BOUNDARIES BETWEEN ART, ARCHITECTURE AND DESIGN

Home / The Chalet History

It began as a dream for a family home. A place close to the forest, full of quiet and sky. My mother, Mia, found an 18th-century mountain farm — one of the oldest in the region — and something in its stillness felt right. As the work began, the artists arrived. They didn’t just place their creations – they built them into the architecture itself. Into the walls, the switches, the ceilings. The space began to breathe.

Where the forest meets the sky

What started as a private refuge became something more. Mia realised it had to be shared. The original structure – the Main Building, the Annexe and the Mazot – was preserved. On the ground floor of the main building: five bedrooms. Above: a glass-lined open space with a kitchen, dining area, and living room, framing the view from mountain to valley. The Annexe, hosting a lounge with a bar and four more bedrooms. And the Mazot, remaining nearly untouched – a quiet echo of the farm’s past.

Preserving the original structures was essential — a choice rooted in care, not compromise. No heavy machinery. No noise. Just a quiet commitment to keep the spirit intact. A Lebanese designer and a French structural architect guided the transformation, drawing on the language of traditional alpine homes. Limitation turned into possibility. What couldn’t be changed revealed what mattered most. The retreat took shape not through invention, but through deep attention. Magic Megève rests in the arms of Mont Blanc — secluded yet open, sculpted yet soft. Wilderness and refinement in balance. A place shaped by art and nature, designed to be returned to.

The Grotto

Inspired by Mario Merz’s declaration “Voglio fare subito un libro” (I immediately want to make a book), Archivorum x M was created to support the artists who contributed to Magic Megève. Each artist was paired with a niche art publisher and given the freedom to create a book on any subject — without constraints. The project is housed in a living sculpture designed by my mother, Mia and her business partner, Mauri in collaboration with architect Luca Massini. Drawing inspiration from Doug Aitken’s immersive installations, the capsule stands at the entrance to Magic Megève, its form subtly echoing the dreamlike surrealism of Magritte. For the full experience, visit at sunset — when the space and the shapes within it come to life.

Not just places to stay, but the chapters of a family story.

Guests are welcomed not as clients, but as part of the family, invited to share in the same joy that built these homes. Every table, sculpture and book tells of those who believed in this vision — artists, friends and loved ones who trusted that art and generosity could coexist. It is a living museum in the truest sense: a home where creation and affection breathe together.
