The Joyful Yeti
Luís Lázaro Matos
The Joyful Yeti is one of four rooms in the Annexe at Magic Megève — each painted a different colour, each telling part of a story by Luís Lázaro Matos. Together, they create a quiet mythology, where the bathrooms become caves, and the Yeti arrives in Megève to hide in plain sight.
In Marbella Pensioners a dusty pink wash recalls sun-faded holidays and passing whispers — like a postcard left too long in the sun. Every line on the walls was drawn freehand by Matos, turning the room into a space shaped by memory, play, and invention.

Luís Lázaro Matos was born in Évora, Portugal, in 1987. He currently lives and works in Bruxelles. The art practice of Luis Lazaro Matos is mostly expressed through drawing, sculpture, animation and installation, inherently diluting the frontiers between disciplines such as design and fine art. Luis’ work often presents itself through architectural counter-proposals, reflecting his interest in drawing as a critical and satirical tool through which modernist and post-modernist utopian visions may be analyzed and reinterpreted.
