The Green Ray
Luís Lázaro Matos
In The Green Ray Luís Lázaro Matos reimagines a conservatory-like space as a surreal London salon. British military figures from the 18th and 19th centuries appear in whimsical disguise — with moustaches, high heels, and references drawn from pop culture. The walls become a stage for costume and commentary, drawn in permanent marker and edged with humour.
In the adjoining bathroom, the Yeti returns in secret. The space hints at something magical — a quiet “abracadabra” as the door opens and the line between art and experience begins to blur.

Luís Lázaro Matos
Luís Lázaro Matos was born in Évora, Portugal, in 1987. He currently lives and works in Bruxelles. The art practice of Luis Lazaro Matos is mostly expressed through drawing, sculpture, animation and installation, inherently diluting the frontiers between disciplines such as design and fine art. Luis’ work often presents itself through architectural counter-proposals, reflecting his interest in drawing as a critical and satirical tool through which modernist and post-modernist utopian visions may be analyzed and reinterpreted.
