Babs Haenen is one of the first artists to have realised and installed an artwork in Magic Megève. She conceived part of the floor in the main salon of the chalet, Aqua Marine, 2020: blue and white porcelain stoneware tiles with a wavy relief pattern reminiscent of the seashore — especially the Dutch Shallows after high tide, with their seemingly capricious yet regular tracks in the sand. In her self-developed slab-technique she subtly manipulates thin slabs of porcelain. She folds them like textile, creating inner and outer spaces, suggesting movement. In doing so she researches how color, drawing and structure affect each other.
